C Foundation financed the publication of the book Bygone Days of Rural Life (guoqu de xiangju shenghuo)
Friends of Spirit Community, a voluntary organization dedicated to the preservation of ancient villages, has visited multiple ancient villages all over the country and collected cases of ancient village preservation and repurposing and of rural cultural revitalization. Bygone Days of Rural Life, via visual images and detailed descriptions, records and preserves moments or scenarios of the traditional way of life maintained by people in an area of Wuyi County, Zhejiang Province. The book, substantial in content and thorough in scope, is of great value to research on customs and folk culture of the central area of Zhejiang Province.
C Foundation financed the publication of photograph collection Doors of Beijing Hutong (Beijing hutong de men)
Mr. Wang Jian started to take pictures in 1965. Over the several decades since then, he visited many Beijing Hutongs (narrow alleys), big or small, and took thousands of photos featuring their doors. He hopes to preserve the photos of those old Hutong doors and keeps alive the ancient culture they embody. C Foundation, guided by one of its principles, “inheriting and preserving Chinese culture”, selected some photos of great value for publication. Doors of Beijing Hutongs, a true and visual record of doors to courtyards of Beijing, was published at the end of 2015 and hopefully is worth reading for reference or research.
