As China’s urbanization rate rises by the year, architectural practices that attend to people’s experience in cities are a necessity for a quality urban life. Urban architectural design is defined as the adjustment of architectural massing and adaptation of architectural languages by architects in light of the specific urban environment based on their reading of the sites to improve an area’s environment.
C Foundation has been funding the program “urban suture – research on the tactics of embedding buildings in high-density cities” since 2018, which collects, sorts out and studies excellent cases of urban suture via buildings of different types and provides useful information to architectural and planning practices in the course of urban renewal in China.
